The Artificial Intelligence Seminar between Faculty of Computing of Harbin Institute of Technology and the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology was held online

On the afternoon of July 27, the seminar between the Faculty of Computing of Harbin Institute of Technology and the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) was successfully held online.

 

The moderator of the seminar was Pivovarov Igor, the chief analyst of AI at Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, and Shaohui Liu, associate professor of the Faculty of Computing, acted as the co-moderator. Regorodski Andrey Mikhailovic, Dean of the School of Applied Mathematics and Information of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and Head of the Advanced Combinatorial Mathematics and Network Application Laboratory, Wang Zhongjie, Deputy Director of the Faculty of Computing and Dean of the School of Software engineering of Harbin Institute of Technology, Wenhai of the Russian Research Institute of Huawei Technologies, and Mei Wenwen, Director of the Foreign Experts Office of the Ministry of International Cooperation, made opening speeches respectively.

 

The seminar report was conducted in an alternating order between China and Russia. Teachers from both sides in machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision and robotics related fields introduced their research directions and achievements respectively. Participants from both sides had a free and in-depth discussion on the contents of the report. After the meeting, both parties preliminarily reached an intention of further scientific research cooperation. The Russian side hopes that the two sides can carry out point-to-point direct communication between laboratories or centers and arrange a teleconference between the two sides to discuss the results of this seminar and the arrangements for the next seminar.

 

Participants in this meeting also included 14 teachers including Kranov Alexander, senior director of the Russian search engine Yandex, Usoltsev Alexander, director of the international cooperation department of RFFI Russian Foundation for Basic Research, and the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, as well as Li Haifeng, Wang Hongzhi, Liu Shaohui, Yang Muyun, Zhang Weinan, Wu Xiaohe Martin and other seven teachers, Ding Liang from the School of Mechanical Engineering and Guo Yifan from the Foreign Experts Office of the Ministry of International Cooperation.
