Faculty of Computing One Hundred International Scholars’ Reports University of Melbourne Academic Report by Dr. Christoph Treude

On April 22, 2022, the One Hundred International Scholars’ Seminar by the Faculty of Computing was held online. Invited by the associate professor Wang Tiantian of School of Software, Dr. Christoph Treude from University of Melbourne in Australia presented an academic report of “Bimodal Software Documentation” to both the students and the faculty members. More than 80 people attended the presentation through Tencent Meeting.

Dr. Christoph Treude is a senior lecturer of software engineering at School of Computer and Information Systems, the University of Melbourne. His research objective is to improve the quality and production efficiency of software. He has published more than 100 research papers in related fields and won four best paper awards including two ACM SIGSOFT outstanding dissertation awards. He currently serves as the editorial board member of journal Empirical Software Engineering and the co-chair of the 36th IEEE International Conference on Software Maintenance and Evolution.

In this report, Dr. Christoph Treude introduced the research results by his team in software document analysis and analysed some challenging scientific issues in the field. Rich cases with explanations in simple terms triggered the active thinking of the students. In Q&A session, Dr. Christoph Treude carried out heated discussions with students and teachers on some issues based on the report.

The Faculty of Computing has always attached great importance to international cooperation and has been holding international senior scholars lecture project, international well-known computer school directors visit project, outstanding universities partnership project, presentations by international famous universities, enterprises and teachers, as well as international famous universities and enterprises co-training project over the years. This has created a favourable international exchange environment for students and faculties in the Faculty of Computing to improve the international academic influence of the computing science.
