Internet of Things and Ambient Intelligence Research Center in Harbin Institute of Technology was founded in 2019 and granted “Internet of Things Intelligent Technology Key Laboratory” by MIIT within the same year. Our center is a cross-campus (Harbin and Shenzhen), multi-disciplinary research institute which leverages School of Computer Science and Technology, Department Control Science and Technology, and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.

The main research area of our center includes Internet of Things, 5G, smart sensing across edge and cloud, ambient intelligence systems, and related application scenarios, such as smart home, autonomous retail, intelligent agriculture, etc. There are 12 faculty members in the center, including 6 professors, 1 researcher, 2 associate researchers, 1 assistant researcher and 1 lecturer. Center Director, Professor Jie Liu, also serve as the Dean of AI Research Laboratory, is an IEEE Fellow, ACM Distinguished Scientist, and a member of Tsinghua Entrepreneur and Executive Club. In the past years, we published more than 200 papers in related fields and have more than 20000 citations. We received 6 Best Paper Awards from top conferences in the field.

Our team are collaborating with research labs such as MSR, and Pengcheng Lab, as well as companies such as Nvidia, Huawei, Tencent, Konka, Taiji, and Haier. Moreover, we actively engage in international academic collaborations (such as MIT, Berkeley, CMU, Columbia, Duke, U Penn, McGill, McMaster, ETH, Oxford, KTH) through guest lectures, exchange visits, and joint projects.
