Twelve faculty members are affiliated in the Center for Bioinformatics, including 4 professors, 4 associate professors and 4 lectures, of whom 5 are Ph.D. supervisors and 1 is adjunct Ph.D. supervisor. The main research fields of the center include bioinformatics, big data algorithm, big data visualization, area subjected searching, large scale biological network analysis and cloud computing. In recent years, this center has undertaken over 30 China’s fundamental bioinformatics research projects, which are respectively funded by National Key R&D Program of China, National High-tech R&D Programs of China (863 Program), National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and international cooperative projects, including China’s first national biological big data fundamental technology development project “The Development and Application of Key Biological Big Data Technology” (funded by 863 Program, 180 million yuan, 2015-2017), and world’s largest genomics study “China’s 100,000 Genomes Project” (funded by National Key R&D Program of China, 90 million yuan, 2017-2020). The research center has won 1 second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, 2 second prizes of Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award. During the past five years, over 100 papers have been published in Bioinformatics, BMC informatics and other high-impact bioinformatics journals.
