The kick-off meeting for the engineering education professional accreditation of the Software Engineering program of the School of Computing was held in Room 109 of Zhengxin Building on the afternoon of May 6th. More than 30 people attended the meeting, including Professor Wu Xiangqian, dean of the National Model Software College and deputy director of the School of Computing, Professor Su Tonghua, deputy director of the School of Computing, members of the report writing group, teachers and teaching management staff. Professor Xu Xiaofei, former vice president of Harbin Institute of Technology, Professor Wang Kuanquan and Professor Jiang Shouxu, experts in national engineering education professional accreditation, formed an advisory group to provide professional support and authoritative consultation for the scientific advancement of the accreditation preparations and the high-standard passing of the professional accreditation.

The meeting made comprehensive arrangements for the advancement of the accreditation. Su Tonghua introduced the background and significance of professional accreditation in engineering education, emphasizing that it is an important foundation for achieving international mutual recognition of engineering education under the framework of the Washington Accord. The software engineering program was first accredited in 2017. After its validity period expired, it applied again and was accepted in April 2026. The meeting defined the division of tasks and responsibilities for the main body of the self-evaluation report and supporting materials in accordance with the standards of the Guidelines for Writing Self-Evaluation Reports for Engineering Education Accreditation, with data support provided by the relevant administrative departments of the faculty and the teaching experiment center to ensure that the accreditation materials are comprehensive, standardized and traceable.

Wu Xiangqian made a motivational speech. He stressed that this accreditation is related to the enhancement of professional content and international competitiveness. All personnel should raise their position, work together, be student-centered, outcome-oriented, and continuously improve as the core, complete the material writing and quality assurance construction to a high standard, promote construction and strengthen through evaluation, and consolidate the foundation of first-class undergraduate programs.

The advisory group pointed out that the overall conditions for the current accreditation are good, but details such as the engineering background of the faculty and the correspondence between the courses and the graduation requirements still need to be optimized. The expert group emphasized the need to strictly follow the accreditation framework, review materials based on the training programs of the last three sessions, and highlight the OBE closed-loop logic. The participants stated that they would strictly implement the schedule requirements, assume responsibilities, and collaborate efficiently to ensure the high-quality completion of all certification tasks and contribute to a new level of talent cultivation quality in the software engineering major.
