The establishment ceremony of the joint laboratory of Computing Science at Harbin Institute of Technology - Leju Intelligence was held on campus on May 11. Liu Ting, Vice President of our university, Wang Guohua, Dean of the School of Computer Science and Technology and deputy director of the Faculty of Computing, and Leng Xiaokun, Chairman and CTO of Leju Intelligent (Shenzhen) Co., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as "Leju Intelligent") and researcher of the Faculty of Computing, attended and delivered speeches.
Liu Ting said that the joint establishment of the laboratory is an important measure for the university to serve the national strategy and seize the commanding heights of future industrial development, and also an important exploration to promote the key technologies of embodied intelligence from basic research to scene application. It is hoped that the joint laboratory will anchor the national strategy, venture into the high ground of cutting-edge science and technology, deepen the integration of industry and education, build a first-class talent cultivation highland, strengthen collaborative innovation, promote the application of achievements to empower industries, and inject strong impetus into the university's move towards the forefront of world-class universities.
Wang Guohua said that the faculty has continuously advanced interdisciplinary research and scientific research layout around artificial intelligence, forming a solid research foundation. It is expected that both sides will give full play to their respective strengths and strive to build the joint laboratory into an influential platform for scientific research innovation and talent cultivation in the field of embodied intelligence.
Leng Xiaokun expressed his gratitude for the school's long-term concern and support, and hoped that the joint laboratory would serve as an opportunity to further promote the integration of basic research and industrial demands, facilitate the deep integration of scientific and technological innovation and industrial innovation, jointly create a model of university-enterprise collaborative innovation, and contribute to the leapfrog development of China's humanoid robot and embodied intelligence industry.
Zhang Weinan, executive dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence and deputy director of the Faculty of Computing, and Liang Jia, Director of the Education Strategy Department of Leju Intelligent, signed the agreement on behalf of both sides, and Wang Guohua and Leng Xiaokun unveiled the plaque for the joint laboratory. According to the agreement, the two sides will carry out joint technological research and development in areas such as physical operation, emotional interaction, and health care companionship, and deepen cooperation in areas such as technology transfer and joint talent cultivation, and explore new mechanisms of industry-university-research-application integration.
The Social Computing and Interactive Robotics Research Center of the Faculty of Computing released embodied intelligence achievements such as the Space Museum interpretation robot and embodied behavior planning system.
Professors Zhang Weinan and Zhao Yanyan from the Center for Social Computing and Interactive Robotics of the Faculty of Computing, and Su Yao, Assistant Vice President of Leju Intelligence, gave academic reports titled "Embodied Intelligence in the Age of Large Models", "Towards Emotional Embodied Intelligence: Development and Challenges of Emotional Computing", and "Exploration and Practice of Establishing an Embodied Intelligence Ecosystem".
After the unveiling ceremony, the first working meeting of the joint laboratory was held, where both sides exchanged views on future work plans.
Representatives from the Domestic Cooperation Office, the Faculty of Computing and Leju Intelligent (Shenzhen) Co., LTD., as well as teachers and students, attended the event.
