To further promote academic exchanges and technical discussions in the field of artificial intelligence, our university held a lecture on Frontiers and Applications of DeepSeek Technology on February 28. The lecture invited Professor Che Wanxiang, Vice dean of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence at Harbin Institute of Technology and deputy director of the Searle Laboratory in the Faculty of Computing, as the keynote speaker. More than 500 students and faculty members attended the event on site, while over 50,000 people watched it live online.
At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Che Wanxiang first introduced the development history of natural language processing and elaborated on the key core technology principles in combination with large language models such as ChatGPT and DeepSeek. In particular, he focused on the core contributions of the Deepseeking -R1 model in areas such as acquiring reasoning ability using only RL, extreme model architecture optimization, open source models and distillation models, and demonstrated with vivid cases that it can effectively solve the performance bottleneck problems of traditional deep learning models in complex scenarios. Professor Che Wanxiang, in combination with practical applications, shared methods and techniques for using it. He pointed out that the application of large models depends not only on the capabilities of the models themselves, but also requires users to write clear instructions based on actual scenarios, provide references, break down complex problems and give the large models some thinking time.
Then Professor Che gave a brief introduction to the research achievements of the Faculty of Computing at Harbin Institute of Technology in the field of artificial intelligence. The Faculty has conducted in-depth explorations in technologies such as the Actitype dialogue large model, the abacus code large model, the large model-based mental health computing system, the herbal medical large model, the human-machine integrated medical consultation platform, and the software and hardware integrated machine brain system. The research results in the field of artificial intelligence have been widely applied in multiple fields such as aerospace, medical care, education and finance.
During the interactive session, Professor Che Wanxiang had in-depth exchanges with the teachers and students present, answering their questions about the implementation details of DeepSeek technology, research difficulties, and future trends.
This lecture on Frontiers and Applications of DeepSeek Technology provided a platform for teachers and students to understand AI technology and delved into the multi-dimensional integration and future prospects of AI technology in education, research and industry. The Faculty will enhance the supply of AI resources and take multiple measures to cultivate innovative talents in the field of AI, contributing wisdom and strength to the comprehensive construction of an education power, a science and technology power, and a talent power.
