The Faculty of Computing host the Artificial Intelligence Sub-forum of the first High-Quality Development Forum Summit of Science and Engineering Disciplines in 2025

From January 11th to 12th, the Forum Summit on High-Quality Development of Science and Engineering was held in Harbin, co-hosted by Harbin Institute of Technology and Peking University as part of the first "Building the Foundation and Creating the Source" New Cornerstone Original Innovation Program series conference. The conference, themed "Building the Foundation and Creating the Source - Challenges and Paths for High-Quality Development of Science and Engineering Disciplines in the New Era", aims to collide cutting-edge development concepts, enhance academic exchanges and educational research cooperation in science and engineering disciplines, strengthen the construction of basic disciplines, consolidate the development momentum of engineering disciplines, explore interdisciplinary practices, and plan new paths for mutual promotion and common prosperity of science and engineering. The conference will set up sub-forums on themes such as frontiers in mathematics and science, integration of medicine and engineering, artificial intelligence, and data empowerment. Nearly 300 experts and scholars from Peking University, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology and our university attended the conference.

On the morning of the 12th, the Faculty of Computing at Harbin Institute of Technology hosted the artificial intelligence sub-forum of the conference. The conveners of this sub-forum were Professor Zhongjie Wang, director of the Faculty of Computing and dean of the School of Computer Science and Technology at Harbin Institute of Technology, and Professor Hongbin Zha from the School of Intelligent Engineering at Peking University. Professor Lin Zouchen from Peking University School of Intelligence, Researcher Zhao Dongyan from Wang Xuan Institute of Computer Science, Professor Li Ge from School of Computer Science, Professor Gu Yanfeng, Vice Dean of Harbin Institute of Technology School of Telecommunications, Professor Zhang Weinan, Deputy Director of the Faculty of Computing and Executive Dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence, Professor Liu Jie, Director of the Center for Ubiquitous Computing and Intelligent Systems, Professor Qin Bing, Director of the Center for Social Computing and Information Retrieval, and Professor Fan Xiaopeng, director of the Center for Intelligent Interfaces and Human-Computer Interaction, Professor Zuo Wangmeng, director of the Center for Machine Learning, and representatives of teachers and doctoral students from various research centers of the faculty. The forum was chaired by Professor Feng Xiaocheng, the vice dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence.

At the forum, Professor Zha Hongbin from Peking University gave a presentation titled "Embodied Vision and SLAM: "Online Learning Approaches", "Pre-trained Language Models and Their Future Research Directions", "Large Models and Software Automation", "Design Methods of Neural Network Architectures with Universal Approximation Properties", Professor Zhao Dongyan," Professor Gu Yanfeng from Harbin Institute of Technology presented on multimodal Remote Sensing large models, Professor Liu Jie presented on Future-oriented Smart farm technologies and systems, Professor Fan Xiaopeng presented on Complex 3D Model processing, Understanding and Generation, and Professor Zuo Wangmeng presented on Controllable video Generation and Application. The experts present interacted with the students and teachers from time to time during the presentation, creating a lively atmosphere.

At the end of the forum, Professor Zha Hongbin from Peking University and Professor Zhang Weinan from Harbin Institute of Technology presented the speakers with certificates and took a group photo.
