Multiple Chief Editors of Top International Academic Journals Will Visit Our School in the Second Half of the Year

At the invitation of Prof. Wang Yadong, dean of the School of Computer Science and Technology, and supported by the International Project Management Center, nine chief editors of top international academic journals on computer science from the United States, Europe and Australia will visit Harbin Institute of Technology in the second half of 2018, bringing a series of top-level academic exchange activities to teachers and students.

The visiting scholars include:



Prakash Narayan is a professor from the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, University of Maryland. He is a fellows of IEEE and the chief editor of IEEE Transactions on Information Theory (impact factor 2.65). His main research interests include information and encoding theory, communication theory, and information theory security.



Albert Zomaya is a professor from the School of Information Technology at the University of Sydney. He is a fellow of Australian Research Council Professional, the chief editor of IEEE Transactions on Computers (impact factor 1.473), and a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. His main research interests include distributed computing and high-performance computing.



Maarten de Rijke is a professor from the School of Information, University of Amsterdam, Netherlands. Heis the chief editor of ACM Transactions on Information Systems (impact factor 1.07). His main research interests include information retrieval and natural language processing.



M. Brian Blake is a professor from School of Computing and Information, Drexel University, USA. He is the chief editor of IEEE Internet Computing Journal (impact factor 2). His main research interests include software engineering and systems based on web.



Henry Joel Trussell is a professor from the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, North Carolina State University. He is a fellow of IEEE and the chief editor of the Proceedings of IEEE Journal (impact factor 9.237).  His main research interests include graphics and image processing.



Elisa Bertino is a professor from the Department of computer Science, Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, Purdue University. She is a fellow of ACM, a fellow of IEEE, and the chief editor of IEEE Transactions on Deepable and Secure Computing (impact factor 2.926). Her main research interests include access control systems and trust and privacy protection, etc.



Nenad Medvidovici is a professor from the Department of Computer Science, University of Southern California. He is a fellow of IEEE, an ACM Distinguished Scientist, and the former associate chief editor of IEEE transactions on Software Engineering. His main research interests include software engineering and software architecture.



Philip S. Yu is a professor from the Department of Computer Science, University of Illinois, Chicago. He is a fellow of ACM and IEEE, and the chief editor of Transactions on Knowledge Discovery. His main research interests include big data, data mining, and database systems.

During their visit, they will conduct rich academic exchanges with teachers and students from HIT, introduce a series of state-of-the-art research results, and provide the relevant information of the top academic journals they serve.
