The 16th national software and application conference (NASAC 2017) has been held in Harbin

The 16th national conference on software and applications (NASAC) 2017 (conference number: CCF - 17 - TC20-01N) has been held in Harbin in 3rd-5th November, 2017. The conference was sponsored by the China computer society (CCF), and organized by CCF system software professional committee, CCF software engineering professional committee, and Harbin Institute of Technology.

NASAC 2017 attracted 611 delegates from more than 100 organizations across the country, making the most participants record of NASAC.

Prof. Zhan Dechen hosted the opening ceremony. Prof. Xu Xiaofei, the vice president of HIT and Prof. Jin Zhi, the director of CCF software engineering branch gave the welcome speech respectively. Prof. Wang Zhongjie introduced the paper admission and the agenda of the conference on behalf of the procedure committee.



NASAC 2017 has 45 sessions, 164 report in total, including 11 kinds of activities: special reports, forum for young scholars, Chinese papers presentation, English papers presentation, group activities, the prototype competition, journal of software presentation, doctoral forum, local software engineering forum, short-paper poster, SATE 2017, etc.

The conference invited Prof. Audris Mockus from University of Tennessee to give a report entitled Knowledge Flows in Open Source Software Supply Chains”. Prof. Boualem Benatallah fromUniversity of New South Wales gave a report entitled the Case Management in the Age of Data - driven Insights and Cognitive Services. Doctor Peng Liu from Pennsylvania State University gave a report entitled Insecurity Analysis of the Android Ecosystem.


Besides, the winners of NASAC 2016 Neuosoft software innovation award are invited to give reports. They are: Prof. Jiang He from Dalian University of Technology. Prof. Feng Xinyu from China University of Technology. Peng Xin from Fudan University. The topics of the reports are “Study on the algorithm of intelligent software engineering”, “System kernel validation based on the elaboration of concurrent operating” and “Code big data analysis of intelligent software development”.

The conference has received 79 papers in Chinese, and accepted 34 papers. 4 in 10 papers have been accepted with an acceptance rate of 40%. The research papers will be published in “Computer Science and Exploration”, and the poster papers will be published in “Computer Science”. Two best paper award is: “An automatic completion method based on hierarchy LSTM” from Peking University and “Android applications  privacy rating based on crowdsourcing and machine learning”.

NASAC 2017 organized a prototype system competition, which was divided into two forms, free type and thesis type. 45 teams registered for the competition. After the fierce competition, Puzzer @ VARAS won the first prize in thesis type, while FOT from Fudan University and Nayang University of Technology came the second and Wuhan University came the third. On another hand, STOAT from East China Normal University won the first prize of free type. DATE – TestGen from Tsinghua University and VoiceDroid from Fudan University took the second place, and CoverDroid from Peking University, Gitplex from Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and Perman from Fudan University took the third place.

During the conference, the committee voted for CCF NASAC 2017- neusoft youth software innovation award. The winners are: Chen Haibo from Shanghai Jiaotong University, Chen Zhenyu from Najing University, and Hao Dan from Peking University. Professors from the committee gave the award certificate to the winners. The committee leaders also gave the award certificate to the winners of the best paper award and the winners of the competition.
